St. Francis Xavier Church, Udyavar, joyfully celebrated the Jubilee of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) on Sunday, 16 November 2025, coinciding with the World Day of the Poor. The celebration took place during the First Mass at 7:30 AM, bringing together the parish community in gratitude and prayer for the dedicated service of the SVP members.
The Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Anil D’Souza, the Parish Priest. During his homily, Fr. Anil highlighted the profound significance of the World Day of the Poor and the Church’s mission to reach out to the marginalized. He spoke with appreciation about the selfless role of the SVP members, who actively carry out the spirit of Christian charity by serving the poor, the needy, and the neglected in society.
Fr. Anil emphasized that the mission of SVP reflects the very heart of the Gospel—compassion, service, and mercy. He acknowledged the countless acts of kindness performed quietly by SVP members throughout the year, reminding the faithful that the true celebration of the Jubilee lies in renewed commitment to love and serve the poor joyfully.
The Mass concluded with special prayers for all SVP members and for those they serve. The parish community joined in asking God to bless them with strength, compassion, and perseverance in their mission.
The celebration beautifully united the parish in the spirit of service and compassion, reminding everyone of the Christian call to charity, especially on the World Day of the Poor.
