Youth Day Celebrated with Faith, Fellowship and Joy
The Youth Day celebration was held on 9 August 2026 at the Parish Hall, bringing together the youth of the parish for a day of faith, learning, friendship and joyful fellowship. The programme was jointly organized by the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) and Young Catholic Students (YCS).
The celebration began with the Holy Mass, where the youth gathered together to seek God’s blessings and guidance. Following the Eucharistic celebration, breakfast was served to all the participants.
The programme officially commenced with a prayer song, creating a joyful and prayerful atmosphere. Riha Melani of YCS delivered the welcome address, while Riona Quadros of ICYM served as the compere.
The celebration was honoured by the presence of the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Anil D’Souza, Assistant Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Santosh D’Almeida, Deacon Kevin D’Souza, Parish Vice President Melwyn Noronha, Secretary Wilfred D’Souza, Commission President Irene Pereira, Commission for Social Communication member Cifha Saldanha, ICYM and YCS animators, presidents and other parish leaders.
The chief guest, Mr. Elson Hirgan, was introduced by Fiona. He then addressed the youth on the important topics of peer pressure and relationships. His meaningful and insightful session encouraged the youth to understand the influence of peer pressure, make responsible choices and build healthy and positive relationships.
The session was followed by lively action songs, which brought great enthusiasm and energy to the gathering. The youth then participated enthusiastically in various games. ICYM conducted four games, while YCS organized two games. The activities promoted teamwork, interaction, friendship and active participation among the youth.
The programme concluded with the prize distribution ceremony, where prizes were presented to the winners of the various games. Disha Fernandes of ICYM proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the parish priests, chief guest, animators, organizers, volunteers and all the youth for their valuable contribution towards the success of the celebration.
The day concluded with lunch served to all the participants, bringing the celebration to a joyful close.
The Youth Day celebration was a memorable occasion that provided the young people with an opportunity to grow in faith, strengthen friendships, learn important life values and celebrate their unity as a parish youth community. The active participation and enthusiasm of the youth made the celebration a truly meaningful and joyful experience.
