The Catechism Year 2026–2027 was solemnly inaugurated at St Francis Xavier Church, Udyavar, on 7th June 2026 during the Holy Eucharistic Celebration.
The Holy Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Anil D’Souza, Parish Priest, who was the main celebrant. He was assisted by Rev. Fr. Santhosh D’Almeida and Deacon Kevin D’Souza. In his homily, Fr. Anil highlighted the importance of catechism in nurturing faith, helping children grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, and strengthening Christian values in daily life.
The inauguration ceremony took place during the Mass in the presence of the Catechism teachers, Parish Pastoral Council members, parents, and parishioners. As a symbol of growth in faith and knowledge, the Catechism Year was inaugurated by watering a plant. Catechism books were then distributed to the students, marking the beginning of their faith formation journey for the year.
The Catechism teachers also renewed their commitment to the ministry through an oath-taking ceremony, pledging to serve faithfully in the mission of imparting religious education to the children of the parish.
Following the Holy Mass, sweets were distributed to all present, adding joy to the celebration and marking the beginning of another fruitful year of catechetical formation in the parish.
