Society of Vincent De Paul Udyavar Unit Celebrates Patron’s Feast.
The festal mass was celebrated on 29th September 2024 Sunday at 07:30 am by Rev. Fr. Anil D’Souza the Parish Priest of SFX Church Udyavara. In his homily he spoke on the good work started by St. Vincent de Paul and later by the inspiration of his good teachings the Society was founded by Blessed Fredrick Ozanam. Fr. Anil narrated the secret work carried out by these 15 members, the true apostles providing care and love to the needy people, the sick and the lonely by visiting them and financially supporting them. This is what is the true spirit to live the mystical body of Christ. Mr Godfrey D’Souza, the Treasurer of SSVP presented the account statement to the congregation at the end of the mass.
After the mass a short function was held in the Church mini hall. Rev. Fr. Anil D’Souza, Rev. Fr. Stephan Rodrigues the Asst. Parish Priest, Mr. Lawrence D’Sa the Vice President of the PPC, Mr. John M. D’Souza the Secretary of the PPC, Mr. Gerald Pereira the Convener of the 20 Associations and Mr. Maxim D’Silva the President of SSVP were on the dais. Mr.
John M. D’Souza in his address spoke on the good work carried out by the SSVP
worldwide and in our Parish secretly. He said, the SSVP is active over 150
countries and there are about 800,000 members in SSVP worldwide. There are also so many supporters worldwide
and he is one among them. Rev. Fr. Anil
D’Souza in his address congratulated the SSVP members for their commitment that
this Society in our Parish is active for the last 48 years. He said “Do the
mission, money follows”.
During the function the five adopted families each were given a gift. The donors were also honored by giving them a Rose. The welcome was done by Mr. Maxim D’Silva, the Bible reading (Romans 12:9-16) & the reflection was given by Sr. Olivia Mendonca, the Annual Report was read by the Secretary Sr. Rita D’Silva, the vote of thanks was given by Br. Anthony Almeida and this short program was compered by Br. Joseph Mendonca. After the function a breakfast was served to all.
