“New Year Mass And Oath-Taking Ceremony -2026”

The New Year was prayerfully welcomed at St. Francis Xavier Church, Udyavar, on 31st December, with a solemn and spiritually enriching celebration.

The Celebration began at 6.30 p.m. with one hour of Eucharistic Adoration, held from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., led by Rev. Fr. Cyril Lobo. The faithful gathered in devotion, thanking God for the blessings of the past year and seeking His guidance for the year ahead.

At 7.30 p.m., the Holy Eucharistic Celebration was solemnly celebrated by Rev. Fr. Cyril Lobo, and con-celebrated by Rev. Fr. Anil D’Souza, the Parish Priest, and Rev. Fr. Stephen Rodriguez, the Assistant Parish Priest. As the Church celebrated the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. Rev. Fr. Cyril Lobo delivered a meaningful homily highlighting the Motherhood of Mary. He beautifully explained the divinity and humanity of Jesus Christ, helping the faithful reflect deeply on the mystery of faith and the significance of Mary’s role in salvation history.

After Holy Communion, a significant moment of the celebration took place with the oath-taking ceremony. The newly elected Parish Pastoral Council members for the next three years solemnly took their oath. Along with them, the members of the Finance Committee also pledged their commitment and responsibility towards the parish. Additionally, the Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council Mr. Melvin Noronha, Secretary Mr. Wilfred D’Souza, and Parish Pastoral Commissions Coordinator Mrs. Irene Pereira took their respective oaths, marking the beginning of their new term of service.

Following the Mass, the YCS members organized a few fun games and lucky games, creating a joyful and festive atmosphere among the parishioners. This was followed by refreshments and prize distribution, adding to the spirit of togetherness and celebration.

The New Year celebration concluded on a joyful note, with the parish community united in prayer, fellowship, and renewed commitment to serve the Church in the year ahead.
