Grand success of “ಉದ್ಯಾವರ್ಚೆ ತಾಳೆ – 2024”

In the long history of St. Francis Xavier Church Udyavara, a singing competition was held on 21^st July 2024 Sunday afternoon for the first time of this nature to identify the singing talents of our Parish under the banner “ಉದ್ಯಾವರ್ಚೆ ತಾಳೆ – 2024”.

The Competition was inaugurated through lighting the lamp by dignitaries. The Parish Priest Rev. Fr Anil D’Souza in his introductory message wished to all participants saying “May this stage give a greater platform to exhibit the hidden talents of Udyavar and thus to raise the name of the parish to a greater heights.”

There was an overwhelming response from our Parishioners, young and the elderly thus having 70 entries. The whole program was organized by St. Cecilia Choir of our Parish, under the able leadership of the Choir Master Mr. John M. D’Souza. The competition was held under nine categories with three prizes in each category.

There were three noted judges to offer a fair chance to all the competing members namely Mr. Dolphy Mascarenhas, Kumari Susan Andrea Mendonca and Mr. Nelson Lewis.

The event was filled with fun such as dance, joke and melodious singing by the Choir members as a part of entertainment.

The valedictory program resumed at 7:00 Pm presided over by the Parish priest Rev Fr Anil D’Souza, Fr Stephan Rodrigues, Mr Lawrence D’Sa, Mr Gerald Periera, Mr John M D’Souza with three Judges staged the event.

During which Mr. John M. D’Souza was honored for his explicit service as Choir Master for the last 36 years. Mr. D’Souza in return dedicated this honor to all the Priests who served in the Parish and also to the choir members who worked with him in his endeavor.
