Altar Servers Day Celebration at Udyavar
The Place where you Stand is Holy – Fr Stephan Rodrigues
On 11th August Sunday, at 10:00am, Holy Eucharist was celebrated in thanksgiving for the intention of altar servers. Rev Fr Stephan Rodrigues celebrated the mass and in his homily he also said Altar servers association is the garden of Vocation and he encouraged to cultivate the love of the Altar where holy Sacrifice of the Jesus Christ is offered. St John Berchmans your patron is a model for all of us to dedicate our lives for the service and lead a life of dedication.
After the Eucharistic celebration there was a short reception in the mini hall of the parish for which Altar servers along with their family members and superiors of the convents were the guests. Fr Anil D’Souza the Parish Priest, Fr Stephan Rodrigues the Assistant Parish Priest, Mr Lawrence D’Souza, Mr John M D’Souza, Mr Gerald Perira, Mrs Dora along with Altar servers president Bradley Staged the Program.
During the program Harshith Fernandes, Clarine Pinto and Melwick D’Souza, the former altar servers were recognized and honored for their voluntary and continual service during various occasions and whenever necessity arise and for leading and example for others.
Mr Lawrence D’Sa the Vice president of PPC, the Chief guest of the day in his address enumerated the difficult situation of his childhood as a altar server moreover today’s scenario is much better which enables the altar servers to play their role well and also encouraged them to attend week day mass and serve and cultivate a desire for Priesthood.
In his Presidential Remark Rev Fr Anil D’Souza said, Altar Servers are fortunate enough to be on Altar near the priest during the Holy eucharist where no others are given such an opportunity therefore be grateful to God and give the best service possible.
Prizes were distributed to boys as well as their groups, who won the prizes in events which were organized on the occasion of Altar servers day.
The Whole program was beautifully organized and sponsored by the members of Commission for Seminary and Religious Formation. food was also served to enhance the joy of the celebration. we also remain grateful to Mrs Dora and Mrs Reshma Martis for their service as animators for Altar servers.
